The Ferrari F2012 was the Formula One car designed by Ferrari for the 2012 Formula One season. Its drivers were Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. The car was launched online on February 3, 2012. The launch was meant to take place at Maranello (Ferrari's headquarters), but snowy conditions prevented it. The car made its track début at the test in Jerez de la Frontera.

The car was powered by a Ferrari 2.4 litre V8 engine.

Season review[]

The F2012 had problems with its own handling in pre-season testing, understeering travelling into the curve and oversteering coming out of the curve.

Ferrari's 2012 season was a poor start at the Australian Grand Prix, with Alonso only managing 12th in qualifying and Massa 16th. Alonso finished 5th and Massa retired after colliding with Williams' Bruno Senna.

The Malaysian Grand Prix was the next round of the season. Alonso could only qualify 9th, while Massa qualified 13th. Starting from 8th on the grid, Alonso won the race by passing Sauber's Sergio Pérez for the lead.

In the European Grand Prix, both Ferraris had another poor qualifying effort, with Alonso qualifying 11th and Massa 14th. In the race, after Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull retired from the race with an alternator problem, Fernando Alonso led for the rest of the race, eventually winning the race from starting eleventh on the grid. Massa finished 16th, after being lapped by his teammate.

In the British Grand Prix, Alonso set the team's pole position for the first time since the 2010 Korean Grand Prix. However, he missed out on a victory to Red Bull's Mark Webber, finishing second in the race.

The season finale at Brazil was the last ever race Alonso needed to be World Champion of 2012. Unfortunately, Alonso lost the title to rival Sebastian Vettel, who finished the race in sixth and kept his Drivers' Championship position ahead of Alonso.
